Emerging contaminants past projects

The overall aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate the integrated use of anaerobic membrane bioreactor (anMBR) and nature-based filtration (tree-pit gardens) to achieve high quality reclaimed water.

This project aims to deliver a ready-to-deploy and scalable modular technology that is capable of removing PFAS from a variety of water sources, including groundwater and surface waters, to make them virtually PFAS-free and therefore safe for human consumption.

Wastewater-based epidemiology is an internationally recognised cost-effective tool to monitor population exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases including Covid-19. However, in-sewer degradation of critical biomarkers can limit their wastewater-based epidemiology suitability.
