Access to clean, safe, and affordable drinking water is essential for the health and wellbeing of all Queenslanders. However, water treatment utilities face significant challenges, particularly after heavy rainfall and flooding, when water quality becomes more difficult to treat and manage due to its deteriorating quality. This fellowship will focus on developing a prototype to investigate and generate a high-strength treatment agent that can treat challenging water sources more effectively compared to conventional treatment agents.

Project outcomes

The overarching outcome of the fellowship is to improve the effectiveness of Seqwater’s water treatment process by introducing a novel water treatment solution that can enhance and better address the treatment of challenging water sources following severe rainfall or floods.
