Tourism industry contributes significantly to global gross domestic product and is expended to grow at an annual rate of 4%. However, the water footprint of tourism is not well quantified. This project calculates the global water footprint of tourism industry using Global Resource Input-Output Assessment (GLORIA) database. This enables a detailed analysis of tourism-related direct and embodied water flows between 160 countries and 120 economic sectors. The results will be used to shed light on the contribution of tourism industry to water scarcity at country level.
