The Water Energy Carbon Group has completed analysis of Urban Water Security for the Asian Development Bank in 2020 and 2016 collaboratively with the International Water Center (Griffith University).

This work involved ranking urban water security (Key Dimension 3) in 49 countries AWDO 2020. This is a key part of the Asian Water Development Outlook influencing AUD$5 Billion/yr bank investment and the investment of member countries (eg Indonesia, Thailand, India). Key component tasks included the conceptual and methodological framing of security quantification, global datamining and modelling, together with sustainability and liveability analysis. UQ particularly influenced the AWDO framework to more specifically address future risks to security. AWDO feeds directly into the Asia Pacific Water Forum and is of high relevance to key elements of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
