Mr Nigel Dawson is a Scientific Officer and Lab Coordinator for ACWEB’s Analytical Services Laboratory. He has completed his studies in Chemical Technology in 1996 and since then he has worked in a wide variety of laboratory environments both including academic and industrial sectors in Australia and United States. He has excellent experience in wet analytical chemical techniques and has outstanding expertise in developing instrumental analytical methods through HPLC, GC, IC, TOC, FIA, DA and ICP-OES for diverse groups of analytes including those from water, wastewater and other environmental matrices. He routinely maintains and troubleshoots such instruments at ASL for the smooth day-to-day operation of the laboratory thereby ensuring the samples’ turn-around-time.
He has also good experience in solid-state analytical techniques such as XRD, XRF, FTIR and Mossbauer Spectrometry including setting up the methods, operation and post-run data analysis.
Nigel enjoys training research staff and higher degree research students in engaging the laboratory and its equipment facilities. He is always glad to assist with any queries that ACWEB team may have in terms of analytical methods, ASL’s technical capabilities, sample preparations and data analysis.
