Researcher biography

Adib’s research concentrates on understanding the fundamental metabolic processes and developing methods for polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production by purple phototrophic bacteria using C1 substrates derived from syngas. Before commencing his PhD, Adib graduated from the University of Queensland in 2019 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering, and subsequently worked at a polymer production company in Malaysia. He hopes his work will contribute to a greater mission of seeking sustainable alternatives to fossil fuel-derived plastics, and pave the way for efficient, large-scale production of biopolymers.
